Superintendent’s Office

July 2020

Dear Tahoma families and staff,

The 2019-2020 school year was tumultuous, and ended abruptly in March when state officials closed our school buildings. In the months that followed, our students, families and staff members all faced challenges. The resilience that the Tahoma community showed was inspiring.

Mike HansonAs I write this message, our reopening work teams are still in the midst of developing a schedule and plan that will offer the best learning opportunities and support for students and families while also complying with the health requirements and guidelines. I want to thank each parent, guardian, student and staff member who has helped us, whether that meant taking the time to respond to a survey, call or email with your thoughts, or serve on one of our committees and work teams.

In addition to continuing to provide the best education possible for Tahoma students during the pandemic, we will be focused this year on our commitment to creating an equitable school system by working to address racism and injustice. We will be sharing updates about our equity goals and progress, and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

As a proud Tahoma alum and the parent of four THS grads, I’m excited and honored to be serving as your superintendent. I look forward to meeting students, families and staff members who I haven’t yet had the chance to connect with, and I encourage you to contact me, our School Board members or our staff anytime.

Sincerely,

Mike Hanson
Superintendent
