Q: Has the district decided to change attendance boundaries?

A: The district has convened a Citizens Housing Advisory Committee, which is reviewing student enrollment growth history and demographic data that includes growth projections. the committee's task is to create options that the School Board can consider so that students have the facilities they need. Committee members include more than 35 parent representatives, staff and School Board members, students, and non-parent community members.

The group has been asked to recommend a 10-year plan, and a subcommittee will examine how to accommodate growth at Lake Wilderness and Tahoma Elementary schools, which are nearing capacity and need adjustments for next school year. For an article with additional details, click here.

In general, all major boundary adjustments follow a process. In 2016, a committee of Tahoma parents, community members and staff conducted a complete boundary review, which resulted in a major shift of student populations and the move from four elementary buildings to six. District officials stated at that time that no major boundary review was anticipated in the near future, but that there was the potential need for slight adjustments and tweaks.
