Equity Committees

As part of the district’s commitment to provide a positive and supportive learning environment for all students, we are forming two instrumental committees to focus on equity:

Equity Ad Hoc Committee

The Tahoma School Board established an Equity Ad Hoc Committee in the winter of 2020.  The committee includes staff members, parents and students and will begin meeting in the 2020-2021 school year.  The purpose of the committee is to advise and support the district in better understanding the unique needs of students across our district, and to support our staff in developing awareness and knowledge to equip them in meeting those needs.

Equity Support Team

An Equity Support Team is being established for the purpose of supporting the district’s goals in equity including professional development, parent engagement, and a review of data disaggregated by race in order to ensure that student needs are being addressed.  The group will be comprised of staff, parents and students and will help the district engage a diverse breadth of voices from among our community.
