We’re announcing the start of a powerful opportunity that we’re calling Tahoma 100. As we reflect on the success, struggles and rich history of our district, we also have a chance to step back and ask ourselves, “What do we want for our district at the start of our second century?” Here’s a fun video to get your blood pumping, and here’s a website that will serve as the hub for Tahoma 100. ⬜ Kindergarten Registration Open Now!
Do you have a child turning 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2023? If so, it is time to register your child for kindergarten at Tahoma! Our online enrollment opened on Dec. 1, and parents/guardians are encouraged to complete their child’s registration by Jan. 31, 2023. Families will begin receiving important kindergarten information soon thereafter, including our monthly Kindergarten Newsletter.
⬜ Tahoma Drama’s “The Lightning Thief” Premieres THIS WEEKEND!
Based on the 2005 Rick Riordan novel, “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” follows Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who discovers he is a demigod, goes on a quest to find Zeus' missing lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Tahoma High School’s acclaimed Drama Club will be premiering its production of the musical THIS Friday, Jan. 27, with additional shows on Jan. 28, Feb. 3 and Feb. 4th. Get your tickets now before they sell out!
⬜ Language Proficiency Exams: 8th–12th Grade
The World Language Competency-Based Assessments allows students who have a high level of academic proficiency in a language other than English to earn high school transcript credits, even if that language is not offered at our schools. Testing is comprehensive and includes reading, writing, listening and speaking. If you know of an 8th-12th grade student that would be a candidate for this opportunity, please refer them to the counseling offices (middle schools) or the Future Ready Center (THS) for registration details. Elementary parent-teacher conferences are Thursday, Jan. 26-Tuesday, Jan. 31. Below are the elementary dismissal times during those school days.
Glacier Park, Lake Wilderness, Shadow Lake:
Thursday, Jan. 26 – 12:20 PM (3-hour early release)
Friday, Jan. 27 – 1:20 PM (2-hour early release)
Monday, Jan. 30 – 12:20 PM (3-hour early release)
Tuesday, Jan. 31 – 12:20 PM (3-hour early release)
Cedar River, Rock Creek, Tahoma Elementary
Thursday, Jan. 26 – 12:50 PM (3-hour early release)
Friday, Jan. 27 – 1:50 PM (2-hour early release)
Monday, Jan. 30 – 12:50 PM (3-hour early release)
Tuesday, Jan. 31 – 12:50 PM (3-hour early release)
Tahoma High School, Maple View Middle School and Summit Trail Middle School will have full day dismissals on those dates, except Friday, Jan. 27 (2-hour early release Friday).

Moms and kids escaping homelessness need hygiene essentials but we can’t keep up with the need! Please help and share the following with your friends, family and on social media:
Hygiene Essentials - Provide families escaping homelessness with the ability to shower and keep a clean and safe home. The full list is attached but the greatest needs are:
Four ways you can help meet the need:

Conduct a drive - Involve your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to contribute. Let us know in advance for planning purposes.

Regular donation - “Adopt” hygiene items (like deodorant or dish soap) and bring them monthly. Let us know in advance for planning purposes.

One-time donation - Purchase needed items and deliver them.

Order online - Click here to purchase items online and they will be delivered directly to Vine Maple Place.

⬜ Important Upcoming Schedule and Calendar Details
With the recent weather-related delayed/canceled school days, our school year calendar looks a little bit different than when we started this school year. Additionally, we have elementary conferences coming up soon, which will have special early release times for students. Everything you need to know about upcoming calendar changes and scheduling can be found here on our district website, including the key dates for the 2023-24 school year.
⬜ Tahoma School Board Work Study Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7
This meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in Central Services Building in the Board Room. An online option is also available, with a link being posted on Feb. 3 to the website.
