May 10, 2023 is National School Nurse Day! We want to take this moment to celebrate and show our gratitude to the amazing group of nurses in the Tahoma School District.
Each of our nine schools has a full-time licensed nurse who helps manage care for students with chronic conditions, creates individualized health plans and 504 plans, and ensures that all students are healthy, safe and ready to learn each day.
School nurses understand the link between health and learning, and they make such a positive difference for our students. They are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination and advocate for quality student-centered care.

"A dozen years ago something really significant happened in my professional life…we hired Nurse Tina. When you imagine an ideal school nurse, every attribute you come up with shows up in Tina. She collaborates with staff and parents at any time for any reason whatsoever. Mostly though, she cares deeply for our students, often individually for over 70 students in a day. She is always seeking new ways to serve and always acts in ways that cause people to walk away feeling great about their time with her. Nurse Tina is a true gift to us and there is no possible way to appreciate her enough."
