Kindergarten

Starting with the 2017-18 school year, all Tahoma elementary schools began providing state-funded, full-day kindergarten programs in all of our kindergarten classrooms. Kindergartners attend school on the same schedule as those students in grades 1-5.

Elementary school start and end times for 2018-19 will be as follows:

8:40 AM - 3:10 PM

Glacier Park Elementary
Lake Wilderness Elementary
Shadow Lake Elementary

9:10 AM - 3:40 PM

Cedar River Elementary
Rock Creek Elementary
Tahoma Elementary

When will my child start school?
The first day of school for kindergarten students will be September 7th. Kindergarten students and their parents will attend an individual Family Connection meeting with their teacher prior to them starting school. These meetings typically take 20-30 minutes and will be scheduled to take place during the first three days of the school year.

When will we know who our child's teacher will be?
We will be making final classroom placements for all students during the summer. We hope to contact parents, approximately the middle of August, to share classroom teacher assignments.

Is my child kindergarten ready? Use the Kindergarten Readiness Guidelines provided in your registration packet to identify your child's strengths and growth areas. This form details the skills we hope our incoming students will have prior to the start of school. We encourage you to work on these skills with your child to assist in their school readiness.

The state-funded, full-day kindergarten program is called WaKIDS.
