New Student Enrollment

In order for your student(s) to attend Tahoma schools, you must reside within Tahoma School District boundaries.  If you are unsure whether you reside within the boundaries, please use the link below to verify your home address and confirm eligibility.

As you complete the online enrollment application, you will reach the required documents section which will prompt you to upload the following documents to finalize your student’s enrollment with the Tahoma School District.

It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to provide the following documents:

Proof of Age

Examples are birth certificate, passport, previously verified school records, adoption record, a certified statement of a physician, or an immunization record with a birth date on it.  Please discuss any alternatives with the school registrar.

Proof of Immunization Status

You will be asked to provide one of the following signed documents for your child. We cannot allow entry into our schools without a signed CIS or COE form.

Legal Guardianship

In Washington State, people who can enroll a child in school include:

• Parents or Legal Guardians (birth certificate establishes this and age of the child)
• A person acting as a parent in the absence of a parent or guardian. This might include:
  • A Caregiver acting in the role of parent.
  • A Foster Parent, or
  • A relative providing “Kinship Care”,
• A youth on their own - A young person who is not living with a parent and does not have a fixed, regular or adequate place to live, can get help enrolling on their own as an “Unaccompanied Homeless Youth.” Ask to talk to a McKinney-Vento Liaison if you are on your own, or are helping a young person who is on their own enroll in school.

Proof of Residency

Tahoma School District may only enroll students whose Parent(s) or Guardian(s) reside within school district boundaries, unless an Inter-district Transfer form has been accepted by the district prior to enrollment. For cases in which residency is in question, school officials can investigate by making a home visit. Residency verification is a parent responsibility and falsification of information provided during this process will be grounds for immediate cancellation of enrollment. Families must notify the Tahoma School District in writing within five (5) school days following any change of residency. 

If you are currently without a regular place to live (if you are experiencing homelessness), the school cannot require documents before enrolling your child. If this might apply to you or a child you are caring for, ask at the school or district office to talk with the school district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison.

Previous School Transcripts (If Applicable)

If your child has attended school in another district, please provide previous academic transcripts.

First-Time Applicants (No Current Tahoma Students)

If this is your first time registering for an Enrollment Online Parent Account, please navigate to the Online Student Enrollment Home Page.

Once you have created your account, you can proceed to fill out the online enrollment application.

First-Time Applicants – Finish a Pending Application

Please visit the Enrollment Access Login Page to continue completing a pending application. If you have lost your temporary portal pin, please click on the “Forgot Your Login/Password” link and enter your email address to have your pin re-sent to you. You may also call your school’s registrar.

Parents/Guardians With Current Tahoma Students

Please log into your existing Skyward Family Access account, then click on the "New Student Online Enrollment" button on the left side of the window.

If you have lost your Skyward login ID or password, please click on the “Forgot Your Login/Password?” link and enter in your email address to have your ID and password emailed to you. If you do not receive an email in a timely manner, please contact your school’s registrar for assistance.

Please Note: The New Student Online Enrollment tab is not accessible through the Skyward Mobile app but can be accessed via Skyward in your mobile browser window. Forms you will be asked to complete are best viewed on a computer browser.

After you have submitted your student's online application, you'll receive an email confirmation from the school registrar that will include steps to finalize enrollment at your student's school. Remember to bring any forms that you did not submit with your student's online enrollment application when you meet with school staff.

School staff will need to be able to contact you to complete the enrollment process. If the school has been unsuccessful in communicating with you within three weeks of application submission, your student's online application may be denied.

Washington state law recognizes the desire of some parents and families to seek a home-based instruction for their children.   

RCW 28A.200.010(1) states that each person whose child is receiving home-based instruction under RCW 28A.225.010(4) must file annually a signed declaration of intent that he or she is planning to cause his or her child to receive home-based instruction. The declaration is to be filed by September 15 of the school year or within two weeks of the beginning of any public school quarter, trimester, or semester with (1) the superintendent of the public school district within which the parent resides, or (2) the superintendent of a nonresident public school district that accepts the transfer, in which case, the student is considered a transfer student of the nonresident district.

Tahoma School District has offers two preschool programs at Lake Wilderness Elementary School: the ECEAP program and the Developmental Preschool program. Please see our Preschool Programs page for more information about these two programs and how to apply.

The Tahoma School District has Full Day Kindergarten for all students at each of our elementary schools. If your child will be five years old on or before August 31st of the school year in which you are enrolling, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten for that school year.
