Now Accepting Applications for School Board Director Position 4

The Tahoma School District is now accepting applications to fill the School Board Director Position 4 vacancy. This is an important opportunity to serve our school community and help shape the future of public education in Tahoma.

Application Window: April 23 – May 9, 2025
Interview Details: Thursday, May 15, 2025 5 PM @ Tahoma School District Central Services (25720 Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd SE)

*Please Note: This Appointment Comes with a Unique Timeline

This appointment process is different from typical board vacancies due to how it overlaps with the November 2025 election. Here’s what applicants need to know:

About the Appointment

  • The individual appointed to Position 4 will serve temporarily until November 2025, when the next regular school board election takes place.

  • The November 2025 election will determine who completes the remaining 2 years of the original 4-year term (through November 2027).

  • The seat will then be on the ballot again in November 2027 for a new 4-year term (ending November 2031).

Important Filing Deadline for the November Election

  • If you wish to continue serving past your temporary appointment, you must file to run in the November 2025 election.

  • The filing deadline for the November 2025 election is:
    Friday, May 9, 2025

  • This means: Even though interviews and the appointment decision will occur after May 9, interested applicants must file to run before May 9 if they want to be eligible to appear on the ballot.

Why This Matters

If an appointee does not file by the May 9 deadline, they will not be eligible to run in the November election—even if they are appointed to the seat this spring. In that case, their service on the board would end in November 2025 when voters elect a new director.
