New Principals Joining Tahoma Elementary and Glacier Park Elementary
Exciting Tahoma school leadership news for the 2026-27 school year! We’re happy to announce, after board approval at last night’s Tahoma School Board meeting, we have hired two new principals - Tim Harris (for Tahoma Elementary School) and Jeff Byrnes (for Glacier Park Elementary School).
Meet Tim Harris – Incoming Principal of Tahoma Elementary (TES)
Tim joins us from the Tacoma School District, where he’s been leading Lister Elementary since 2023. Before becoming a principal, he served as a paraeducator, special education case manager, teacher, and assistant principal, building extensive experience supporting students, staff, and schools. Tim is a veteran leader who is "beyond excited" to partner with the amazing TES staff and community!
Meet Jeff Byrnes – Incoming Principal of Glacier Park Elementary (GPES)
Jeff brings over 25 years of experience to GPES. Currently an Assistant Superintendent in Oregon and formerly a Principal in the White River School District for a decade, Jeff is "honored" to join a district with such a strong reputation for student achievement!
We’d also like to provide a quick update about Tahoma High School and Cedar River Elementary School principal openings. We’re currently screening applicants for the Tahoma High School principal position and interviews will take place in April. Applications are open until April 3 for the Cedar River Elementary principal position and the screening and interview process will take place once it closes.
