Key Staffing Updates for the Upcoming 2025-2026 School Year
We’re very excited to announce some key staffing updates for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year to our Tahoma community.
Join us in welcoming Shawn Batstone and Stacey Zachau to the Tahoma School District:
Shawn Batstone, Chief of Schools: Shawn will oversee school leadership, Teaching & Learning, Student Services, and Technology. He brings nearly 30 years of experience in public education, including as an elementary and secondary teacher, and serving in leadership roles as superintendent, assistant superintendent, and principal. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Executive Director for the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), where he led the planning and implementation of key programs and statewide professional learning initiatives.
Stacey Zachau, Assistant Director of Health & Wellness: Stacey will support student well-being and mental health initiatives. She comes to us from the Snoqualmie Valley School District, where she most recently served as a career and college counselor at Mt. Si High School and has been a dedicated advocate for student well-being. With a background in counseling and youth mental health, Stacey will support the development and coordination of our student wellness, prevention, and health initiatives.
We’re also pleased to announce the following internal hires:
Megan Anderson, Director of Public Relations: Megan is currently our Communications Specialist and will now lead all district communications and media relations and continue to build strong, authentic relationships through communication strategies with our Tahoma community.
Audrey Meyers, Assistant Director of Special Education: Audrey has provided outstanding service within our Student Services team and now steps into an expanded leadership role. She will help oversee special education programming and provide critical support to our educators and students.
Barbara Roessler, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent: Barbara has served our system with dedication for many years (currently as an administrative professional at Lake Wilderness Elementary) and now moves into this key role supporting the Superintendent and district leadership.

About the Tahoma School District: The Tahoma School District (TSD) is a public school district in the greater Maple Valley, WA community, located in Southeast King County, Washington state. TSD serves over 9,000 students in pre-kindergarten to age 22 and employs over 1,160 personnel. TSD has one comprehensive high school (grades 9-12), two middle schools (6-8), and six elementary schools (K-5). The district also provides an array of special education services for students pre-kindergarten and young adults receiving special transition services.
