For several years, Tahoma has limited or eliminated distribution of paper flyers to families, especially by outside groups. Instead, nonprofit organizations could post electronic flyers in pdf format on the district website or could place a small number of printed flyers in the school office. Though we achieved the goal of being more environmentally responsible by reducing the amount of paper flyers that go home to parents, the alternative communication choices were not ideal. To improve communication and continue to reduce paper usage, we have contracted with a company called Peachjar to distribute flyers electronically.

Many surrounding school districts already use Peachjar to distribute information flyers from both outside organizations and school groups, including PTA/PTO and clubs. Flyers are sent to families via email and are posted on the web. Outside organizations pay a fee to distribute flyers but school groups post for free. Families will receive flyers via email or can set up Peachjar accounts and manage the flyers they want to receive. Only approved flyers will be sent to families. Email addresses will not be shared or used for any purpose by Peachjar.

Community organizations that want to send flyers to families can register with Peachjar and submit flyers for approval. Peachjar charges a fee for outside organizations.
