Dr. Ginger Callison was named Tahoma School District’s superintendent in July 2024. It was the support of our community partners, staff members, and families, whose passion and unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for children that drew her to Tahoma.

"It is a personal and professional privilege to join the Tahoma School District team, and I am excited about partnering with all members of the Tahoma community to ensure each student in our district has an exceptional experience in our schools."

"The school board and I have set four priorities for 2025-26:

1. Increase student attendance: In order to support and educate our students well, we need them with us at school consistently. In addition to stronger academic outcomes, students who attend school consistently have lower incidences of substance abuse, tend to earn a higher income as adults, and tend to have better health as adults.

2. Increase student literacy achievement: Literacy, or “reading and writing,” is one of the strongest predictors for high school graduation. This is especially true for our youngest learners.

3. Increase student math achievement: Proficiency in math is vital for success in the workforce, as well as using logic and reasoning skills throughout life. Skills in math are also critical for personal budgeting, investing, personal problem-solving, and more.

4. Increase the number of staff members who would recommend the Tahoma School District as a place to work: Retaining and recruiting excellent staff members benefits our staff, students, families, and the entire community. We will partner with staff members to deeply understand what we have in place already that makes Tahoma a great place to work, as well as what we can do to make it even better.

To significantly grow in the four areas above, we will need the input, creativity, passion and heart of each member of the Tahoma community. Each and every one of us plays a critical role in the success of our students and staff members moving forward. I am excited to collaborate with students, families, staff, and community to achieve these important goals, as I believe they not only benefit students, but the community as a whole. Additionally, during the 2024-25 school year, the school board and I will be working with stakeholders and soliciting community input to develop our district’s next strategic plan, which will provide a focus for our future work.

I appreciate all of the valuable feedback and support from the Tahoma community and look forward to an outstanding school year.

With gratitude,

Ginger Callison, Superintendent
Tahoma School District
