Board of Directors: Board Goals and Targets

Goals 2010-2015:

Accountability:  Housing to renovate and increase student capacity
Housing: Equity through respectful behavior and student attachment to school
Equity: Accountability supported by data driven decision making
Relationships: Relationships with community to partner for student success
Ten:    Support all facets of implementing Classroom 10   

 

Targets 2011-2012:
 
  1. Modify and expand current instructional spaces to match current and future housing needs.
    1. A community committee has been meeting since June 2011 to identify short and long term housing options for the Board to consider. The recommendation will be shared with the Board at the October 11, 2011 board meeting.
 
  1. Provide support that addresses non-academic barriers to learning including the social and emotional needs of students.
    1. Board directed ad hoc committee to expand and implement policy & procedures on anti-harassment / anti-bullying to meet state legislation requirement
      • Clear definitions
      • Common reporting practices
      • Safe tip-line
      • Dean meetings/ training
      • Single reporting person to be identified
    2. Embed bullying/ harassment intervention support into the responsive services section of the secondary counseling curriculum
 
  1. Identify short and long term goals to hold ourselves accountable on the Classroom 10 journey.
    1. Identify benchmarks and timeline for reporting annual progress
    2. Align the teaching standards document with the negotiated evaluation documents
    3. Develop and implement a data management system to track and analyze progress
 
  1. Foster effective communication with our community
    1. Board directed ad hoc committee to establish expectations including setting common standards and timelines for the student information systems (email, posting on website, …)
    2. Expand on and explore new partnerships with the greater Maple Valley Community.  (Board)
    3. Provide an avenue for the student voice
                             
 
  1. Continue to implement Classroom 10 throughout the Tahoma School District:

Support:

  1. New Teacher Training
  2. Early Release/ Waiver Day plans
  3. In-service models for staff training
  4. Technology support & training

Demand:

  1. Revise, develop, & implement Classroom 10 Curriculum
  2. Identify and implement common assessments reflecting Classroom 10 learning goals
